P2/3

Welcome to P2/3!

In our class we love to have fun when we’re learning and our room is always busy! We focus on the everyday things such as being independent, taking responsibility for our belongings and our learning, working together, being kind and helpful and following our ‘Golden Rules’. We earn dojos for all our hard work and get special treats too!

Our topic this term is ‘Home Sweet Home’ and we can’t wait to explore different types of houses and buildings. We will be learning how to create simple floor plans with lego, finding out who is involved in building houses as well as creating our own artwork linked around homes and family. We are also looking forward to exploring outdoors, finding out about animal homes and having great fun learning through our different play based activities.

In Literacy, we will be focusing on our reading and phonics this term. We will be looking at how to write simple reports as well as linking our writing to our topic and becoming independent writers. In P2 we will be practising using sounds to word build and putting our words and ideas into sentences. In P3 we will be taking part in grammar and comprehension activities and finding out about nouns, punctuation, sentence structure and much more….

In Numeracy our main focus this term will be based around numbers. We will play lots of games to help us and will be using different resources like numicon to help us count, order, add and subtract. We will be learning mental maths strategies to help us count, add and subtract quickly and will be exploring different ways to solve problems. There will be plenty of practical activities too such as going ‘shopping’ to learn about money and finding 2D shapes in our local environment and creating our own 2D shape pictures.

It’s going to be a busy term but there will be lots of fun along the way!
